The Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) program targets orphans and vulnerable children and focuses on meeting the medical needs of infected children and the psychosocial needs of all children infected, orphaned, or affected by the virus.
The goals of the OVC program are simple.
- Decrease the number of children contracting the virus.
- Identify and treat children already living with the virus.
In order to accomplish these goals, the OVC program provides HIV testing free of charge to all children of patients. The program coordinates sufficient pediatric care and counseling for children living with HIV. In addition, the OVC program ensures that OVC have a home, adequate nutrition, and are able to attend school.
